Week in Review

Sunday had the team back on the doors, with plenty of good conversations and a lot of neighbors willing to give us a few minutes of their time. Tuesday took Christian out to a dairy farm in the district for a conversation that's stuck with him all week, more on that below. He was also back volunteering at Fresh Meals on Wheels this week, and we've got a full item on that further down too. Today you can find Uncle Sam at the Manitowoc County Fair from 2 to 5 pm; let us know if you’ll be too there so we can meet up.

Civic Spotlight: A Morning at Sunrise Acres

On Tuesday, Christian visited a dairy farm in the district for a conversation that's stayed with him all week. At Sunrise Acres, he talked with Dan and Shelly Mullikin about milk pricing, labor shortages, automation, and succession planning: the question of who takes over a farm when the current generation is ready to step back.

One line from the conversation stuck with him: "We're asset rich and cash flow poor." A farm can be worth millions on paper without generating enough income to support a family, invest in the future, or convince the next generation it's worth taking on.

It's a theme Christian says he hears across the district in different forms: people aren't afraid of hard work, they're asking whether the systems around them still work the way they're supposed to. Thanks to Dan and Shelly for their time and their honesty.

Join Us: Sheboygan County Fair

Christian's headed to the Sheboygan County Fair next Saturday, and he won't be hard to spot: he'll be out as Uncle Sam (red, white, and blue, stars and stripes, and the colorful top hat), the same getup he wears to parades. Come say hello, no political talk required.

Save the Date: Educators' Town Hall

Looking a bit further out: Christian's holding a town hall for educators on Tuesday, September 29, at Jake's Cafe. It's a chance for teachers and school staff across the district to talk directly with him about what they're seeing in the classroom. More details soon, but go ahead and save the date.

Also on the calendar: Flapjacks & Football, Saturday, September 12, morning, at the Sheboygan Falls YMCA, and a Tuesday evening reading of Captain Underpants with Christian on September 15. More on both soon.

Support From Across the Aisle

This week the Sheboygan County Democratic Party added its support to the campaign. Christian's response: good ideas can come from anywhere, and no party has a monopoly on them.

Our team is still working to earn support the same way, one conversation at a time, from Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and anyone who wants a state government that listens more and focuses on results.

Volunteer Spotlight: Fresh Meals on Wheels

Christian was back on Route 17 with Fresh Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan this week. They have a real need for volunteers over the next several weeks, and this isn't a campaign ask so much as a community one: it's rewarding work, and it may challenge a few assumptions about who in our community needs help, and how much of a difference a simple visit can make.

More Ways to Get Involved

Join a canvass. Every doorstep this summer has taught us the same thing: people want to talk about their community, not national politics. No experience necessary, we'll pair you with someone who's done it before.

Help us build the website. The new site was built entirely by volunteers, and we're still looking for people with web development, design, or SEO experience willing to lend a hand as we keep improving it. Reply to this email if that's you.

Fair season is here, and it's one of the best chances all year to meet voters who haven't heard from us yet. Every contribution helps us show up at more gates, staff more booths, and keep the conversations going through the fall. If you're able to chip in, we'd be grateful.
