Sheboygan Falls School District's 2026 Facility Referendum
Christian Ellis, Independent candidate for Wisconsin State Senate District 9, supports responsible investment in Sheboygan Falls schools through the referendum. He argues that strong schools don't happen by accident and that communities must decide to invest in them. Ellis emphasizes that the district has listened to community feedback, scaled back previous plans, and focused on core educational needs rather than luxuries. He notes that the proposal expands opportunities in career and technical education, STEM, skilled trades, and workforce preparation while helping students earn college credit and explore career pathways. Ellis calls for accountability in public spending, asserting that Wisconsin should weigh costs carefully and use public dollars responsibly.
He believes this referendum represents a responsible investment in the future of Sheboygan Falls and urges a YES vote to give the next generation the opportunities previous generations worked to build.

Ellis: Statement on Sheboygan Falls Referendum
I've spent a lot of time over the last year talking with educators, parents, school leaders, and community members throughout our district. One thing I've learned is that strong schools don't happen by accident. Communities have to make a decision to invest in them.
For years, Sheboygan Falls has been working to make its school facilities meet changing educational needs. This referendum is an opportunity to address those needs, modernize learning spaces, and expand opportunities for students. Our students deserve classrooms and learning environments that help them succeed. Parents want their children to have opportunities close to home. And families considering where to live want to know their community is investing in the next generation.
This is not the first referendum proposal. The district has listened to community feedback, scaled back previous plans, and focused on core educational needs. Much of what remains is not about luxuries. It's about creating the kind of learning environment our students need and deserve.
The proposal expands opportunities in career and technical education, science, STEM, skilled trades, and workforce preparation. It helps students earn college credit, explore career pathways, and graduate better prepared for whatever comes next, whether that's college, technical education, military service, or going directly into the workforce. Just as importantly, strong schools help strengthen the community as a place where families want to live, work, and raise children.
We talk a lot about accountability. Accountability means asking hard questions, weighing costs carefully, and making sure public dollars are used responsibly. It also means taking seriously what our students and schools need to prepare for the future. If we want strong schools and strong communities, we have to be willing to consider responsible investments in them.
I've reviewed the proposal, the district's planning efforts, and the projected tax impact. I believe this referendum represents a responsible investment in the future of Sheboygan Falls. That's why I support a YES vote.
This isn't just about buildings. It's about whether we're willing to give the next generation the opportunities that previous generations worked to build for us.
