City of Plymouth Levy Increase Referendum
What will appear on the ballot?
Under state law, the increase in the levy of the City of Plymouth for the tax to be imposed for the next fiscal year, 2027, is limited to 2.046%, which results in a levy of $5,769,712. Shall the City of Plymouth be allowed to exceed this limit and increase the levy for the next fiscal year, 2027, for the purpose of funding three additional police officers and related equipment and wage adjustments in the Police Department, by a total of 10.399%, which results in a levy of $6,369,712 and on an ongoing basis, include the increase of $600,000 for each fiscal year going forward?
What would this referendum do?
A Yes vote would allow the City of Plymouth to exceed the stated levy limit for 2027 and increase its levy by 10.399%, resulting in a levy of $6,369,712.
According to the ballot question, the additional revenue would be used to fund three additional police officers, related equipment, and wage adjustments in the Police Department.
The referendum also asks that the $600,000 increase be included on an ongoing basis for each fiscal year going forward.
A No vote would not authorize the City of Plymouth to exceed the stated levy limit for these purposes.
